Elon Musk Reveals Plans for Video Feature in X Spaces

In a recent announcement, an engineer at X shared the news that X Spaces, the live audio conversation feature on the social networking platform formerly known as Twitter, is set to include a video feature soon. Elon Musk, the billionaire leading X, disclosed that the new feature will initially be accessible to iOS users, with plans for subsequent availability to Android and web users.

According to reports from TechCrunch, Musk outlined the timeline for the video feature’s launch, aiming to roll it out by the end of the year or early 2024. Musk emphasized the simplicity of the video feature, allowing users to easily toggle the video on or off.

During multi-speaker Spaces sessions, Musk revealed that the video feed would dynamically switch to the individual currently speaking in real-time. This functionality mirrors features found in existing video conferencing platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom Meetings.

Musk highlighted the significance of seeing people’s body language while they speak, stating, “It’s helpful to see people’s body language as they speak… It conveys more information if you can see their face and their body language if they wish to.”

The integration of video into X Spaces aims to enhance user engagement on the social network, eliminating the need to use external platforms. X is focused on providing a seamless experience for users to connect with their audiences within the platform.

Additionally, X has introduced a new feature allowing users to share community posts with all followers on iOS. Initially available to iOS users, the feature will later extend to Android and web users. Users opting to broadcast a community post can easily do so by selecting the ‘Also send to followers’ option during community post creation, with the shared content visible on the poster’s profile.
