YouTube is expanding its Premium service to provide a more engaging experience for its paid subscribers while aiming to attract a broader audience. In addition to offering ad-free streaming, the Google-owned platform has introduced a new feature called YouTube Playables, seamlessly integrating gaming into the video streaming experience. Initially introduced by Google in September, the Playables feature has completed its experimental phase and is now available to YouTube Premium users, offering them access to a curated selection of 37 online games directly playable within the mobile or desktop app.

This feature eliminates the hassle of additional downloads or installations, providing a smooth gaming experience within the YouTube platform itself.

YouTube is actively notifying its Premium users about the Playables feature, with reports confirming that many subscribers received notifications last week. Upon opting in, users gain access to a diverse collection of minigames, featuring popular titles like Angry Birds Showdown, Brain Out, Daily Solitaire, The Daily Crossword, and various arcade games.

It’s important to note that the availability of these games is time-limited, as indicated by a notification from YouTube Premium. Users can enjoy the games until March 28th, 2024. Throughout this period, Premium members can explore the entire collection under the Playables section within the Explore tab.

The rollout of YouTube Playables has already begun, with many users having access to the feature. For YouTube Premium subscribers, accessing Playables is a straightforward process.

To explore the new games section, including YouTube Playables, users need to update their YouTube app and navigate to the “Playables” section within the Explore tab. While some users have already received the update, it may take a few more weeks for the feature to reach all users. Notably, YouTube Playables is compatible with both Android and iOS mobile apps.
