Users of Bharatiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) are going to get a new update of 5G service soon. Union Telecom and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Thursday that the 4H based technology of state-owned BSNL will be updated within the next 5 to 7 months. He told that it will be started with 1.35 lakh telecom towers of the company across the country.
In a program of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Ashwini Vaishnav said that the government has planned to increase the Telecom Technology Development Fund from Rs 4 thousand crore to Rs 5 thousand crore to promote new technology in the country. He told that BSNL will be in a very strong position in the telecom sector in the coming times.
Ashwini Vaishnav told in this program that BSNL currently has 1 lakh 35 thousand towers across the country. The company is still very strong in rural areas, where private telecom companies have not been able to reach completely. In such a situation, the company will insist on updating 4G to 5G technology within the next 5 to 7 months, which will also benefit the people of rural areas.
TATA will help BSNL
TCS (Tata Consultancy) will help BSNL in furthering its 5G services in the country. According to sources, BSNL has sought Tata’s equipment for testing its 5G services. Only after getting these equipment, the company will start its 5G trial in the country. It is being said that BSNL’s 5G services will be given first in those areas where the network of private telecom companies is not reaching.
Where has 5G service reached so far?
Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have started providing their 5G service. At the same time, Vodafone Idea (VI) has not yet launched its 5G. If sources are to be believed, Jio has started 5G service in Gujarat, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru, including Delhi-NCR. At the same time, Bharti Airtel has also launched its 5G service in major cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Siliguri, Nagpur Panipat, Guwahati and Patna.
