Pfizer Vaccine Prevents Serious Corona Pediatric Complications = CDC

Pfizer

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on the 7th with US Pharmaceutical Pfizer about a serious pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) that rarely develops several weeks after the infection with the new coronavirus.

The company announced the results of a study that estimated that a 91% preventive effect could be obtained by inoculating the corona vaccine jointly developed by the German biotechnology company Biontech twice.

MIS-C is a disease that causes inflammation of organs such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, and brain 2-6 weeks after mild or asymptomatic corona infection in children.

The study enrolled 283 inpatients aged 12-18 years at 24 pediatric hospitals in 20 states from July to early December, when infection with the Delta variant was widespread. Many of the subjects were infected with the Delta strain.

According to the study, all 38 MIS-C patients in need of life support were unvaccinated.
