Building collapses in Chongqing

At least 16 people were killed in an explosion in Chongqing, southwestern China, probably due to a gas leak. National television reported on the 8th jan.

As of 1600 GMT (1 am on the 8th of Japan time), 26 people were taken out of the scene, and 16 of them were confirmed dead. One is in serious condition and the other injured are in hospital.

According to media reports, a team of more than 600 people has been dispatched to the scene from the Ministry of Emergency Management.
