Xiaomi Corporation, a Chinese multinational electronics company, recently announced the arrival of wired and wireless fast charging technologies through Twitter. Xiaomi’s 200W HyperCharge fast charging and 120W wireless charging technologies can fully charge a smartphone battery of 4,000mAh in under 8 minutes. Introduction of this fast charging technology makes Xiaomi the first original equipment manufacturer to offer 200W fast charging for smartphones.
Smartphone technology has undergone massive advancement over the years, from processing power to cameras. Battery capacity and standby times have been the major challenges the smartphones have faced and tech majors are actively working to boost charging speeds. Xiaomi demonstrated the speed at which a smartphone with a 4,000mAh battery can be fully charged with the new wired and wireless technologies through video evidence. The company claims it takes 44 seconds for 10% charge, 3 minutes for 50% charge, and fully charged in less than 8 minutes. Similarly, the 120W wireless charging method took 15 minutes to completely charge a smartphone with the same battery capacity. The 200W HyperCharge fast charging technology comes a year after the company introduced the 120W fast charging with its Mi 10 Ultra and the 80W wireless fast charging technology.
The technology is yet far from being commercially available in market-ready products and no details have been offered about which phones will be equipped with these technologies. However, it is expected that the upcoming flagship models may be integrated with this technology.
